The Chapter

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. - Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter was chartered on February 27, 1942. The historic event took place at the Richmond Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA). Soror Esther Peyton, Middle Eastern Regional Director, facilitated the chartering ceremony.

The fourteen charter members were: Mildred Banks, Audrey Bradford, Antoinette Bowler, Celestine Braxton, Theresita Braxton, Anita Gaines, Sarah Holmes, Olivia Lindsey, Ollie Neal, Adlena Sanders, Zipporah Taylor, Alma Temple, Martha Warren, Lillian Wilson. All of the charter members joined the sorority through Nu Chapter on the campus of Virginia Union University.

  • Zeta Amicae of Richmond

  • Zeta Youth, including Pearlette, Amicette, and Archonette groups

  • Zeta Male Network

  • Nu Chapter at Virginia Union University

  • Eta Theta Chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University

  • Tau Theta Chapter at University of Virginia 

  • Theta Nu Chapter at James Madison University
