About the Cotillion and Charm School
Dating back to 1950, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter began a Cotillion and Charm School program in Richmond, Virginia. The cotillion serves as a mentoring program, encouraging excellent character and scholarly activity. The cotillion season concludes with a debutante ball to present the young ladies to the Richmond community. Through fundraising efforts, participants compete for the title of Cotillion Queen. Funds raised benefit Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter's Health and Education Fund.
The program's goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to be involved in activities that promote educational and personal growth. Participation in such a program can open doors and insights as they transition into womanhood.
This mentoring program is designed to develop skills and a sense of responsibility, instill pride, self-esteem, respect for self and others.
Leading up to the pageant, young ladies will participate in a variety of workshops and activities with components guided by the principles of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.
